Sara Niksic

Sara Niksic is a PhD student at School of Biology, University of St Andrews, Scotland, studying humpback whale song ontogeny, evolution and vocal learning. Over the years she worked on various research project with several universities in Croatia, Scotland, Australia and New Zealand. Sara’s biggest interests are in animal behaviour, especially their vocal communication, social learning and culture. She is also interested in interdisciplinary research combining art and science, public engagement with research and science communication. For over a decade she has been developing innovative approaches to science communication, with art as her main tool. Lately she has been focusing on music as a tool for communicating her bioacoustics research and engaging artists from all over the world. Sara also finished music school, plays piano, handpan and produces electronic music.
